Counselling for individuals searching for connection

and understanding

I offer face to face appointments, online appointments (via  Zoom) and telephone counselling.

I will give you a quiet space where you can be yourself,

where you will be accepted, listened to

and not judged.

We can make this work, wherever you are in the world.

I also offer Walk & Talk therapy.

Being outside in nature has immense psychological benefits and the natural environment can create a calming backdrop to any issues you might have, making it easier to express your feelings. So if you live in the Twickenham, Hampton or Teddington area and this appeals to you, please contact me.

As you travel through life, you may find that you are holding onto things that are causing you pain,

leaving you unsure about how to move forward.

You may be experiencing loss, perhaps grieving the breakdown of a relationship or ruptures within the family. It may be that you or a loved one are struggling with addiction and don't know where to turn.

You may be lonely, even when surrounded by those whom you love, not knowing how to fill the seemingly empty space within yourself.

Perhaps you desire change but are unsure how make this change happen.

You may feel that the path you are currently on isn't the path that is bringing you happiness.

Life is a journey and sometimes, when times are difficult or distressing, we need somebody to take this journey with us to offer support and help us find new ways of moving on.

Counselling can provide that support and help you to gain insight and awareness into why you do the things you do and how to change, if change is what you desire.

How I work

My route into training as a counsellor came following a career as a secondary school teacher and then, later on, working in the drug and alcohol charity sector helping people to recover from addictions. My personal view of counselling is as a journey of self-exploration, where you are guided towards deepening your level of self-understanding and awareness. As your counsellor, I will walk this journey alongside you, not handing you the answers to your life but instead helping you to find them for yourself.

My working model is based on relationship since it is the relationship between you and I that may bring about change; we are in this together. I would like to work with you as you realise and become the person you were meant to be and there seems to me to be great value in this, as you become more able to trust in your own ability to make decisions and perhaps to rely less on the influence or opinions of others. I want you to prize yourself and grow as an individual, true to your beliefs and accepting of yourself.

Do make contact and talk to me either via telephone, email or using the form on my contacts page.

Making contact

I recognise that finding the right therapist can feel challenging and even daunting. I want to make the process as uncomplicated as possible for you. I would love to hear from you if you would like to call me or send me an email with any questions you might have.

First steps

You have already taken the first steps towards change by visiting my website and getting this far. I invite you to come to a first session with an open mind and, in return, I will offer you a safe space which is uniquely yours. A place where you won't be judged but you will be heard.

Covid-19

During Covid-19, I am offering  sessions online (via Zoom, FaceTime and WhatsApp video) and  also offer telephone counselling. This means that you can access counselling wherever in the world you are.

Please see my Contacts & Fees page for session rates and details.

My values

I believe that given the right support, every one of us has the capacity to work through all manner of challenges, distress and confusion and become the best they can be. You do not have to do this alone.

“I was eased into talking therapy with Philippa's gentle, non-judgmental approach. For the first time, I felt safe, heard and understood."
